Creating a Vehicle Profile in AutoMind
When you connect a vehicle to AutoMind, the app will attempt to read the VIN — that’s the Vehicle Identification Number.
If the vehicle supplies it, it’ll be decoded and used to generate a vehicle profile.
Just like any mechanic, the vehicle profile is a key part of the information our AI mechanic requires to create the most accurate diagnostic report possible. But don’t worry, if your car doesn’t allow VIN reading – like some Nissan’s, you’ll be given the option to enter it manually or skip it and create the profile without the need for the VIN.
Once we have the VIN, AutoMind checks a third-party database and fills in as much of your vehicle profile as possible – things like make, model, year, fuel type, and engine size.⚠️ Sometimes this information isn’t fully accurate, so be sure to check and update it if needed. I’m sure you’ll know the make, model and fuel type, but if you’re unsure of the year of production, just give us your best guess. Finally, for the engine size, if it’s that’s unknown, you can guess again, or there’s a Don’t Know option.
Once complete, use the Connect button to save the profile and continue.
It’s worth noting that there’s a Vehicle Profile main menu option where you can directly connect to a vehicle from a profile already set up. Here you can also edit and delete any profiles.
